Sight seeing etc

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Took a local bus to the north of the island to see St Johns. A nice town that acts as the meeting point for the MASSIVE cruise ships that come through here. The oddest thing was that is seemed like the ratio of clothes shops was way to high.

Did some more swimming and dinner with the boys who are all taking it easy after the previous weeks excesses.

One of the yachts in the harbour here is rumoured to be Roman Abramovich’s Le Grand Bleu. At 113 meters long she is the eleventh largest yacht in the world. Apparently it takes one million dollars to fill her up.

Tonight Woza started using the yachts mosquito repellent as underarm deodorant. He likes the smell.

Leaving Antigua tomorrow for the long sail down to Grenada for our match against the Saffas on the 14th. We are going to try to catch the NZ v Ireland match on telly on route somewhere.

NZ v Bangladesh

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Tight bowling kept the Bangladeshis to a low 174 which we chased down in only 29 overs with the loss of one wicket.

Aussie cricketer Adam Gilcrest summed it all up the night before when he said “Bangers? Bangers? I have seen sausages who can bat better than that!”

Off the pitch I took a hammering in our match day drinking game. Scotty Styris took four wickets, two maidens and a catch meaning I had to do seven funnels. A pretty dire fate when the only beer available was Red Stipe.

Wedding skipped

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Skipped wedding as I couldn’t convince anyone else to go. Plans made under the influence do not always sound so great sober it seems. Was pretty disappointed. Then had a grumpy afternoon :)

Instead we went to an organised gathering on the local hill top to watch the sun set. It was packed with tourists and felt like a way to milk some more money out of us for not much in return.
